The main goal of each stage in Orbyx is to eliminate all the gold orbs which of course is surrounded by tons of green orbs. You'll shoot balls from your rotating cannon. Unlike Peggle where the cannon was the top center of the stage, the cannon in Orbyx could be anywhere. Sometimes it is in the center of the stage or towards the bottom. The catch bucket is on the bottom of the screen which will award you with a free ball if it lands there. Sometimes the bucket could be replaced with a bounce bar like what you have in Arkanoid which bounces the ball back to the orbs.If you clear all of the gold orbs, you'll enter Chaos Mode. In Chaos Mode you won't get "Ode to Joy," but you will get three large bumpers appearing on the bottom of the screen and continuously bounce the ball back into the playfield to maximize plenty of bonus points before it seeps into the small cracks.

Orbyx features 32 levels of Pachinko style action spanning four different worlds. Each stage has it's own style featuring different ways to eliminate orbs. Some of the orbs are stationary, while others are in constant motion. At times, I've even noticed some Space Invaders (you'll see what I mean). Some green orbs are larger than the others. Most of the orbs also act like bumpers in a pinball game which can send you ball flying all over the place so you'll never know where your ball lands. Good thing you have the ability to plan out your shot by pressing the Y button. Also beware of the of the black orb called the Curse of Undoing. This black orb will undo all the orbs you collected during that specific turn including the gold orbs.
Orbyx features four characters each with their own magic ability. The characters include Emerald who has the ability of multi-ball, Ruby who has the power to explode nearby orbs, Sapphire who has the ability of teleportation which makes the ball reappear on top of the screen to collect more orbs, and Amber who summons bumpers on the bottom of the screen to keep the ball in play. Unlike Peggle where you would just hit a green orb, in Orbyx you must collect the five letters spelling M-A-G-I-C for the spell to take effect.

Unfortunately, Orbyx is only available in single-player only. There is no multiplayer whatsoever which hurts the replay value just alittle bit. There is a quick play option which lets you play any of the levels you've unlocked in the main adventure mode with any of the characters. There are also leaderboards, but they are local only. Although this is a major disappointment, just remember that Orbyx still has the same addictive ability that Peggle has so you'll find yourself playing this game for hours and hours.
Orbyx: Mystic Orbs of Chaos has alot of similarities to Peggle, but let me assure you that Orbyx can stand on it's own merit. It's a really good game that will have you playing each stage over and over again, not to just rack up a high score, but to master it. Personally, I'm still trying to eliminate all the orbs on a stage just to see if you get an ultra bonus. In the end, if you like playing Peggle, then I strongly suggest downloading Orbyx.
